Range Rover's Autobiography tool gives their customers the option to personalise the vehicle to their own taste, using luxury finishes and a range of unique styling options.

We were commissioned to showcase the Autobiography options on an updatable CD-ROM that could be used by dealers in the showroom and at events.

Solution

From the initial close-up of the silver badge, the Autobiography CD conveys the prestige and exclusivity of the personalised Range Rover.

Exterior colour and wheel options are presented using 3D imaging which allows the user to view the vehicle from multiple angles. The interior design of the car is shown in a range of seating and trim combinations.

Using updatable CD technology means that changes to colours, accessories or language options can be updated on the user's system when they next insert the disc.

Results

We were given a timescale of just two weeks to deliver the project. To keep the budget down, we used existing photography and achieved a quality result that the client was delighted with.

The CD-ROM version of the Autobiography tool was showcased on plasma screens at the Frankfurt Motor Show. When the screen was not in use, the display showed the Autobiography screensaver that's included on the CD.

Because each dealer only needed one or two CD-ROMs and will not need to be sent a new disc when the model changes, Land Rover were able to achieve significant cost and efficiency savings.
