Objectives

When sites based on content management systems grow organically, managing and keeping them under control becomes of vital importance. Alstom wanted a clear vision for the redevelopment of their sites across the business with clear objectives and measurable outcomes.

Solution

Our audit of the Alstom stable of sites (internal and external) enabled us to make recommendations on the changes that could be made to improve the user experience and how this could be implemented within the context of their existing technology platform.

We provided a prioritised road map of requirements for the project that enabled them to implement an efficient plan with clear objectives and measurable outcomes covering look and feel, navigation and usability, content and marketing.

Our design work created a clear distinction between the four key areas. At the same time we promoted the benefits of a consistent approach to content, tone of voice and navigation to improve the user's experience between the sites as well as within the individual sections of the business.

Results

Alstom's defined objective was to increase traffic to their external sites and use of their intranet system across the business. Following the implementation of our design work and recommendations the business has seen a more than 50% increase in traffic. Our work as part of a retained service agreement aims to build on these improvements.
